Plastic plating is the process of coating the metal coating on the plastic surface by electroless plating and electroplating. Plastic products after plating, retained the plastic lightweight, low cost, high production efficiency; while giving its protective, decorative, wear resistance and thermal conductivity, so the plastic plating technology is widely used in various electronic, optical instruments, machine tool buttons and light industrial products etc..
Replacing metal with plastic plating metal layer is of great significance in engineering application, which not only realizes light weight, but also greatly reduces the cost. Because of its excellent heat resistance, toughness, fatigue strength and electroplating performance, electroplated PC/ABS alloy is widely used in automotive, electronic and electrical fields, such as inside and outside door handle, automobile nameplate, wheel housing, grille, decorative strip, cell phone shell and so on.
Zhang Yi and Hong Ruoyu (EG) with expanded graphite as conductive filler, adding compatibilizer, PC/ABS blends were prepared by melt blending of EG and, after the break of the expanded graphite (TEG) the influence of adding amount of PC/ABS blend morphology, resistivity, tensile strength, impact strength and thermal stability. The method of graphite in PC/ABS blends can improve the conductivity of the blend, the plating properties of PC/ABS blends. The effect of mechanical properties will have a certain impact, but the thermal conductivity of blends and improve the limited need for pretreatment of graphite needs to be complicated, the cost is increased, it is not conducive to large-scale production. CN105419142A discloses an electroplating PC/ABS alloy material and its preparation method by adding silicone rubber polymer to the polycarbonate resin, SAN resin, ABS resin, PC/ABS alloy to improve the chemical resistance and toughness, hard and brittle fracture changed to prevent coarsening after plating. CN102516735A discloses a low stress electroplating PC/ABS alloy material and preparation method thereof, wherein the PC/ABS alloy material comprises the following components and weight: PC resin 30-80, ABS resin, 15-65 resin, PA 1-5, antioxidant 0.1-1, 0.1-1 parts of lubricant and then by blending granulation prepared by low internal the force of electroplating PC/ABS alloy material, improve the effect of electroplating PC/ABS alloy material.
The study of electroplating PC/ABS focuses on improving the performance of electroplating, has been involved in conductive and electromagnetic shielding, but the research and application in heat conductivity are rarely reported. The reason is that the plastic substrate itself is a poor conductor of heat, in the heat source will cause heat concentrated, "hot spot" the temperature reached, the plastic parts can withstand the extreme temperatures, caused by plastic failure. Even though the surface is coated with metal with excellent thermal conductivity, the thermal conductivity of the electroplated parts is still low due to the existence of plastic interlayer, which limits the application of electroplating plastics in more fields.
In view of the above shortcomings, in laser technology R & D department work with concerted efforts, after a long time of technical research, to provide a plating PC/ABS alloy material and its preparation method, by adding certain proportion of PC/ABS in the heat conductive filler, filler pre-treatment agent and compatibilizer toughening agent, electroplating PC/ABS alloy material which provides the obtained thermal conductivity well, the thermal conductivity can reach 1.47W/mK; at the same time still has plating and good conductivity, mechanical strength, impact strength and processability excellent, and retains the "light"; the preparation process without pretreatment, saves cost and is suitable for large-scale production. In process control of extrusion process on the application of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of rheology rheological theory and mathematical model, by laser technology responsible for industrialization of R & D, and the ultimate success of the theory into practical application, and design different cylinder arrangement and screw combination according to the need of different products the perfect formula, the base material of formula design and process formulation design together, produce engineering plastics alloy products to international advanced, and the successful realization of the control of product performance and manufacturing process and product batch stability.
Under the guidance of rheology basic theory, the project accurately controls the extrusion process of PC/ABS, reduces the processing cost and keeps the stability of alloy products, and improves the impact toughness and weathering characteristics of alloy materials at room temperature and low temperature. In September 2011, it was identified as the Shanghai high technology transformation project.
